English Conversations- Holiday activity

The Verma family are having holiday fun at home
. Mrs.Verma is wearing evening gown dress, Ranjan is reading a journal of management, Mr. Verma is reading newspaper , Reena is wearing woman's evening dress and has her hair in hair rollers.

Vikram Why everyone in the family staying home, is so quiet? . Didi, why do you put your hair in hair curlers at home ? You look enjoying the Government holidays.

Reena Don’t be rude Viki. These are rollers and not curlers. My hair look nice when I take them off and having fun at home during these government holidays.

I have to look smart at my job as a receptionist at Rama’s store. In any case, everyone ought to dress tidily and look as attractive as possible, when you stay home. You, Viki, should wipe your face, so that it doesn’t shine so much when you relax at your home.

Mr.Verma is discussing the family events with home children. Ranjan, how are you getting along with your distance education learning   for MBA?

Ranjan We’ve finished one year of distance education learning at Delhi institute of Management. We’ve learnt about marketing and management. Now for the next year we have to start the classes
as well. I think I’ am getting along quite well. We may also need to work at home.

Reena Papa, you are staying home today. You do not seem to have much touring to do in your new job?

Mr.Verma: I am now working in the Head office of Government Steel Traders. It is only in
the branch offices that a lot of touring has to be done to visit all the dealers in
the district. There are no Government holidays in the Branch offices. I am also planning to join some distance education learning Computer course

Mrs.Verma: Vikram. Have you done your home work?

Vikram : Yes, mamma, I finished home work right after lunch. From tomorrow I am not going out
to play in the afternoons. I have to study for my final exams for class X.

Mrs.Verma:  All right, everyone stay home and play a game before we have dinner after half an hour.

Vikram:  What shall we play? Can we play football at home or play any indoor game ?

Reena: No silly, how can small  family play football in the sitting room? Let's play a guessing game and enjoy Family weekend.

Mr.Verma : O.K. I’ll think of a thing in this room and you’ve got to guess what it is. All
right?

Vikram:  But you must give us clues.

Mr.Verma:  Right. The thing is a word with eight letters and the first letter is “c”.

Reena:  What’s it made of? Is it wood or steel or cloth?

Mr.Verma: It is made of cloth.

Vikram: What colour is it? Blue, green, black, white or brown?

Mr.Verma:  None of these colors.

Mrs,Verma Is it red?

Mr.Verma:  That’s right, it is red.

Ranjan:  What is it used for?

Mr.Verma:  For covering.

Vikram:  Is it a cupboard?

Mr.Verma:  No little fellow. A cupboard is not make of cloth and it is not of a red colour,
is it?

Vikram: Then, is it a carpet?

Mr.Verma: No, carpet has only six letters in it.

Reena I know. It is 'curtains'.

Mr.Verma That’s right you’re clever girl, Reena.

Mrs.Verma: We’ll continue after dinner. No, It is not a formal evening . I’ll get the dinner now. You must all go to bed
early.
Tomorrow is another working day for all of you.

Ranjan: O.K.Vikram, guess what one wall said to another wall? Is it asking the family surname?

Vikram: I know that one. One wall said to the other wall.” Meet me at the corner”.

Ranjan: What did one picture say to the another?

Vikram: “First they framed me and now they’ve hung me.”
